N1OF AllStarLink Node

Overview

Thanks for stopping by! This has been one of my more ambitious projects, and I am glad to see it come to fruition. This simplex AllStarNode is open to any licensed amateur who wishes to use it. My goal is to provide a resource to hams in my area who may be newly licensed, or may only have a simple FM HT, and allow them to connect with others over the internet, without needing a radio dedicated to a digital mode, or a higher level license to reach outside of LOS communications.

RF coverage should cover most of the City of Findlay. The antenna is a copper J-pole at 20 feet, with 50 watts of power. Please feel free to use the system at any time, and if you have any feedback, send me an email to admin@n1of.com

Enjoy!

Scott, N1OF

Features

This node has been equipped with some fun little add-ons, combining some of my other previous projects into one hub! Please feel free to use them as much as you wish.

SkywarnPlus

SkywarnPlus is an AllStarLink addon developed by Mason, N5LSN. This powerful software monitors the National Weather Service alerts API, and will automatically announce weather alerts when they are issued for Hancock County. On top of this, the courtesy tones of the repeater will change, as well as a few other functionality items, when the node is in weather alert mode. I have not had a chance to dive very deep into the software, but when monitoring the node, weather alerts will be announced.

SSTV

(Local RF Only) This node features SSTV images on demand for current forecast and radar images. By dialing *099 or *098 (Forecast and Radar, respectively), a PD90 encoded image will begin to play. You can use a PC or a smartphone app to decode the image. For example images, check out my Github project "Weatherscan 2.0".

MDC1200 Emergency Decoding

This node is capable of decoding emergency beacons sent from Motorola radios, or from radios equipped with MDC1200. This will play an alert tone, and a message asking traffic to standby. This will also transition the node into a mode similar to Weather Alerts, with different Courtesy Tones and suspension of features until the emergency is cleared.

DTMF Commands from the AllStarLink Wiki

*1node Disconnect Link

*2node Connect link in monitor mode

*3node Connect link in transcieve mode

*4node Enter command mode on a remote node

*70 Local connection status

Notes

node is an Allstar Link node number.

Monitor mode means listen to a node, but do not send any audio to it.

Command mode means send all received DTMF digits to the node number specified (bypassing the local command decoder). Send # to exit command mode, and restore local command decoding.
